Investment & Trade

Investment and Trade Office, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, is one of the oversea branches of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan) in the United States. Its mission is to enhance bilateral investment and trade relationship between Taiwan and the four states of northeast USA- New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut.

In addition to cooperating with the economic development authorities of these 4 state governments to expand bilateral commercial relationship, Investment and Trade office dedicates to bridge the communication between U.S. and Taiwan business people and intellectuals by organizing seminars and conferences on up-to-date topics such as investment, trade, technology, environment, and energy etc.

In the field of investment, in addition to visiting American companies which are interested in investing or expanding their business in Taiwan, Investment and Trade Office also provides assistance for them to contact the appropriate government agencies in Taiwan. At the same time, the Office also help Taiwan companies to access the U.S. market. Investment and Trade Office cooperates with state governments to help Taiwan investors to choose the best location in U.S. for setting up their business.

In the field of trade, there are four major services provided by Investment and Trade Office:

1. Assisting Taiwan business associations or exporters to attend exhibitions;
2. Replying inquiries about exporting and importing regulations in Taiwan and the U.S.;
3. Providing potential trade opportunities and business information;
4. Mediating trade disputes. Furthermore, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) also has a branch in New York to promote trade and to offer business opportunities as well.
