Taipei, Sept. 24 (CNA) Taiwan's Chou Chia-chen claimed the gold medal in women's singles bowling Wednesday at the Incheon Asian Games in the South Korean city with a score of 1,291 pinfalls.
Chou beat out Singapore's Jazreel Tan, who took the silver with 1,277 pinfalls, and South Korea's Lee Na Young, who took the bronze with 1,272.
The win was the third gold medal for Taiwan, following two golds in women's weightlifting.
Chou suspended her studies at Kaohsiung High School of Commerce about a year ago to concentrate on training.
The bowling alley where she trained during that time said she reported to the alley almost every day, practicing from opening at 9 a.m. until closing time.
Also on Wednesday, Huang Shih-hsu won a bronze medal for Taiwan in the women's under-69kg weightlifting event.
Huang lifted a combined 233 kg in the snatch and the clean and jerk categories to earn her prize.
The gold went to Xiang Yanmei of China, while silver went to Ryo Un Hui of North Korea.
