Taiwan ICDF Scholarship Program 2017

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is pleased to announce that the 2017 Taiwan ICDF (International Cooperation and Development Fund) Scholarship Program at undergraduate or graduate level for qualified Belizeans has started its application process. These scholarships are for enrollment at universities in Taiwan, commencing in September 2017. Applicants need fill out and submit the TaiwanICDF Scholarship application form and related documents to the Embassy before March 17, 2017. 31 Programs and each deadline are as follows:

Important regulations and notices:
1. Scholarship recipients will be provided with a round trip economy class airfare, housing, tuition fees, credit fees, insurance, textbook costs, and a monthly allowance which varies for different study programs.
2. These Scholarships are all basically English-taught programs.
3. Applicants are required to apply simultaneously for both the (1) Scholarship with the Embassy and directly with the (2) University for selected program of choice before the respective deadlines.
4. Applicants need fill out and submit the TaiwanICDF Scholarship application form and related documents listed below to the Embassy before March 17, 2017.
5. For the TaiwanICDF Scholarship Application form, visit the link to the online application: http://web.icdf.org.tw/ICDF_TSP/WelcomeStart.aspx. Please fill out all the pages of the application form and print it out and sign it.  After March 17, 2017, the above-mentioned website will be shut down and cannot apply afterward.
6. For the University application for intended program of study, visit the website: http://www.icdf.org.tw/ct.asp?xItem=12507&CtNode=30318&mp=2, and click: “2017 TaiwanICDF Scholarship Brochure”. Applicants must submit their application and required documents by post to the University intended to study by themselves before the application deadline of the respective University. Every applicant  can only apply for one program.
7. For those who will be scheduled to graduate from school in June 2017, are allowed to apply, and they need to submit the original school letter confirming date of graduation and transcript, both certified by the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs in Belmopan.
8. For those whose diploma and transcripts were obtained in foreign countries are required to have their documents certified by the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/Consulate(General)/Representative Office in that country.
9. All the applicants must submit their application IN PERSON. Applications by post or delivered by another person will be rejected automatically.
10. Current Scholarship recipients cannot continuously apply for different level program, that is, no one is allowed to continuously apply at the same year when he or she just finishes his or her study in Taiwan. He or she must at least skip for one year for next application.
11. For those who are pregnant and will not deliver the baby before August 2017, or the HIV test result is positive, will be rejected for the application. For those who have hypertension or other chronic diseases, their applications will be seriously considered.
12. For the applicants whose applications are accepted, the Embassy will request the formal interview by programs. The interview date will be informed and is the necessary process of application.

Duration of Scholarships:
The award period varies for different study program as follow:
Undergraduate program: maximum 4 years.
Master program: maximum 2 years.
Doctor Program: maximum 4 years.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Be Belizean citizens (Overseas Chinese and Taiwanese nationals are not eligible).

2. Is not current recipient of a scholarship or subsidy being offered by any other government agencies or educational institutions in Taiwan.
3. For undergraduate programs, must possess a senior or vocational high school diploma; for graduate programs, must possess an undergraduate or graduate degree relevant to the intended area of study. The minimum GPA must be 3.0 or above, otherwise the application will be regard as incomplete and rejected.
4. Be in good mental and physical health and under the age of 50.
5. For those who work in governmental agencies must submit the approval letter issued from their working agencies when deliver their application.
6. Cannot be cancelled for scholarship qualification or be expelled from University studied in Taiwan before.

Required Documents: ( Must be original)
A complete application includes the following materials:
1. Completed TaiwanICDF Scholarship Application Form (must on-line apply and print it out before March 17, 2017 )
2. Medical Report within 3 months (link to: the Health Certificate for Residence Application(docx/pdf)).

3. Photocopy of the highest-level diploma certified by the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs in Belmopan.
4. Original complete grade transcripts duly certified by the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs in Belmopan.
5. Two (2) recommendation letters
6. Itemized C. V . and resume( includes academic background and/or working experiences)
7. Copy of passport

Deadlines:
All required documents mentioned-above must be completed electronically or in typewritten format and submitted in a 10" X 13" sized envelope specifying intended program of study, no later than March 17, 2017, to Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), #20 North Park Street, Belize City. Late and incomplete applications will be rejected.
