Taiwanese business leaders from Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal visited Ottawa on April 13 & 14, 2016. The delegation visited Global Affairs Canada, the Canada-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in order to better understand Canadian economic and trade policy and promote industrial cooperation between Taiwan and Canada.
During their visit, members of the delegation exchanged views with their counterparts on Canadian economic and trade policy as well as industrial development. The delegation members emphasized the complementarity in economics and trade between the two countries and urged that Taiwan and Canada should strengthen the current bilateral economic and trade cooperation mechanism to further enhance mutual benefits.
Mr. Philip Ying, the Chief Supervisor General of the World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (WTCC), stated that Taiwanese enterprises in Canada fully employed Canada’s competitiveness while managing business earnestly, not only contributing to Canadian economic growth but also to Taiwan-Canada bilateral relations. Mr. Rong-chung Wu, Representative of TECO in Canada, praised the efforts of the delegation in bilateral economic and trade relations. This visit received positive feedback from the Canadian government, members of parliament, and industrial associations. All delegation members gave recognition regarding this successful and meaningful “door-knocking” trip.
