The 11th Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival Successfully Rounded Off

The 11th Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival, co-presented by UBC Literature Etc. and Taiwanese Canadian Cultural Club, was held at Vancouver International Film Centre from June 9 to 11, 2017.
More than 150 guests, including Mr. Tom Chih-chiang Lee, Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver, representatives from the provincial and municipal governments, academics and Taiwanese community leaders, attended the opening ceremony and reception. Director General Lee remarked that the eight films with a range of different themes featured at this year’s festival showcased Taiwan’s cultural diversity. He welcomed the audience to visit Taiwan someday to experience Taiwan’s beautiful multiculturalism in person.
The distinguished guests unanimously praised the festival organizers for bringing many outstanding Taiwanese films to Vancouver every year. This festival not only helped Canadians gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture, but also enriched Vancouver’s renowned multi-cultural elements.
Mr. Chi-Jan Hou, director of the opening film Ode to Time, participated in the post-screening Q&A session and received warm feedbacks from the audience.
