ROC President Ma Ying-jeou to hold videoconference with Members of European Parliament

President Ma Ying-jeou of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will hold a videoconference with Members of the European Parliament at the invitation of European Parliament Taiwan Friendship Group Chairman Werner Langen on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at 5 p.m. Taipei time (11 a.m. Brussels time).
During the videoconference, President Ma will stress strengthening the Taiwan-EU relationship and maintaining peace in the Asia-Pacific region. The President will first deliver remarks, and then engage MEPs in a question-and-answer session.
This will mark the President’s first videoconference to exchange opinions with MEPs. Members of the public are invited to stream the videoconference live from the websites of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During or immediately following the videoconference, ROC representative offices in Europe will hold symposiums inviting leading politicians, scholars, members of the media, overseas compatriots, and friends of Taiwan to watch and discuss the videoconference.
President Ma’s remarks and exchange of opinions with MEPs should help Europeans better understand the current state of the Taiwan-EU relationship, cross-strait relations, and the efforts the ROC has made toward peace in the Asia-Pacific region, and showcase the long friendship and ever closer cooperative relationship between the ROC and the EU.
