Islands of Aboriginal Song
A renowned Taiwanese Indigenous singer Samingad and an Australian indigenous singer/songwriter Emma Donovan performed in the joint concert to enhance the Taiwan and Australian indigenous culture exchange.
Samingad is an outstanding and most representing Aboriginal Taiwanese pop signer and songwriter. Born in Taitung, Taiwan. Samingad was raised with Puyuma music and performed with the family in tribal festivals. Samingad’s persistence in performing Aboriginal songs in her native tongue enables her to experience the resonance of beautiful songs. Awards: 1999, “Best New Artist”, Golden Melody Award. 2001, “Best Dialect Female Vocalist”, Golden Melody Award.
Emma Donovan has established herself as one of Australia’s finest Indigenous singer/songwriters. With the inclusion of her traditional language Gumbayngirr in her songs, Emma is committed to educating the global community to understand more about Aboriginal culture and spirituality. Originally from Northern NSW; Emma has performed across the globe treating audiences to her rich soulful voice as a solo artist, and as part of the award winning Black Arm Band.
