Q: If I need materials to write a country report, what can your office offer?

A: We have a library of booklets we give out, free of charge. We also have books on specific aspects of Chinese culture as well as an audio-visual lending library. If you tell us what you need, we will try to assist you as best we can.

Q: Do you have documentaries or feature movies for rent? To borrow?

A: We do have a library of documentary films and some feature films. We do not sell the videos, but lend them to individuals or organizations. Borrowers may check up to three videos out at a time for up to three weeks. If you would like to see a film list, please contact Jennie Chuang at Jennie.chuang@gmail.com or (415) 364-5604.

　

Q: Do you have slides as well? Photos?

A: We also have slide albums about Taiwan and Chinese Culture. We keep albums of professional quality photos of Taiwan and life in Taiwan. Please contact Ms. Jennie Chuang for the list.

　

Q: Where can I get posters of Taiwan?

A: We have posters, however, they are not necessarily the most distinctive country posters. In fact, many of them highlight different aspects of Taiwanese culture. The Tourism office also has a selection of posters . You may call Emily Liu at (415) 364-5603 to learn more about our selection or contact Betty Phelps, (415) 364-5639, in the Tourism Division.

　

Q: What other reference materials do you have at your office? And is it open to the public?

A: Our office IS opened to the public. If you are coming around lunchtime, you should call ahead since we do shut our doors during lunchtime. Just let us know what you are looking so you don't have a wasted trip into the city. Also, based on your needs, we could refer you to other TECO offices that might better serve you.

　

Q: If I need a speaker for a class, would someone in your office be able to accommodate me?

A: Yes. Give us the details and we will be glad to help, if possible.

　

Q: Where can I get a copy of your national flag and anthem?

A: We lend out both items to individuals and/or organizations.

Q: I am planning to visit (or live in) Taiwan. Where can I get practical information on Taiwan?

A: Please visit our "Information for Foreigners" webpage at http://iff.npa.gov.tw/iff/main1.html This webpage is geared toward people who are planning to visit or reside in Taiwan. It provides information on daily life, such as visa process, job opportunity, residency requirements, education, health insurance, tax and investment, and other relevant important information.

　

Q: I am planning to work as a foreign journalist in Taiwan, how do I apply for working permit?

A: Application for working permit must be reviewed by our office in San Francisco before our office submits those documents to our headquarters, the Government Information Office. Documents required are:

1) Letter of assignment :Letter of assignment bearing the signature of the publisher, president, editor-in-chief, general manager, or any other person holding an equivalent position in the head office of the news organization with which the applicant is affiliated; or the supervising editor of the organization's branch office in the Asian region.

2) Health certificate obtained within the last three months

3) A photocopy of passport
