2014 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, Australia
Application for 2014 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (HES) is now OPEN.
The HES is funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Taiwan. It is for encouraging and providing Australians with opportunities to increase the understanding of Taiwanese culture and society as well as to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Australia and Taiwan.

A monthly stipend of NTD 25,000.
Eligible Program(s) Duration:
This year only candidates may apply to take the summer term classes for two months between June and August of 2014; all other candidates can only take classes for a period of 3, 6 or 9 months.
With the exception of summer classes in 2014, in principle, the duration of the HES is from 1st September, 2014 to 31st August, 2015. If recipients fail to come to Taiwan for enrolment during the designated time, they will forfeit their right to retain their scholarships.
Scholarship funding will become effective on the date of the recipient’s enrolment. Scholarship funding will end according to the scholarship’s expiration date or if the scholarship is revoked.
Australian applicants above the age of 18, who possess a high school diploma or above, have shown excellent academic performance, and are of good moral character, are eligible.
Candidates with one of the following qualifications may not apply:
a. Is an overseas Chinese student or a national of the R.O.C.
b. Is currently registered as a student at a Mandarin Language Centre or has sought a degree from a university or college in Taiwan.
c. Has already received a HES or a Taiwan Scholarship, in the past.
d. Is an exchange student to Taiwan, during the scholarship period.
e. Is currently receiving financial benefits from the Taiwan government or another educational institution.

*Note: Apply for admission according to the regulations of the centre. Once admitted, the recipients should send a copy of Admission Letter to our Office for confirmation. Recipients who do not send their Letters before 28 June, 2014 will be disqualified from the scholarship selection process.

Application Form and Supporting Documents include:
u A completed Application Form.
u A copy of the Australian Passport or any other documents that can verify the nationality.
u A copy of the highest degree and academic transcripts (all certificates must be in English).
u A photocopy of the applications to the Mandarin Language Centre in Taiwan. Each applicant needs to apply directly for admission from “a registered Mandarin Language Centre approved by the MOE” listed on our website.
u Two reference letters signed and sealed in envelopes such as from principals, professors or supervisors.
u A signed Terms of Agreement Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program (HES) Form
