The young designer Ms. Yiyu Chen from Taiwan won the talent prize worth 10,000 euro on September 16 at the fashion show in Aarhus called Aarhus Walks on Water (AWOW). Together with the fashion designer “VRS Fashion” the Taiwanese designer has created a number of styles which in different ways impressed the jury.
After the prize, Ms Chen said: “Thanks, thanks, thanks. I don’t believe this. I am so happy. It has been a big and challenging experience to participate and to work together with VRS Fashion.”
Many people were gathered at the harbor of Denmark’s second largest city Aarhus, when the fashion show Aarhus Walks on Water took place on September 16 from 20:00 – 22:00.
Group Senior Vice President Ms. Jette Christiansen of VRS Fashion is proud that their styles and designer won the talent competition:
“It is fantastic, we did have a really good cooperation with Yiyu and she has worked dedicatedly with our designs. It has been a big inspiration to be part of Aarhus Walks on Water, and there are many things which can inspire us,” she says.
The design talents which participated in Aarhus Walks on Water have in cooperation with the Danish fashion companies, re-designed four styles from the companies’ respective existing collections to give the clothes a new technological look. Apart from that the designers also brought their own collection. Apart from VRS Fashion, the companies JBS, Culture, LauRie, LEGO Wear, Kaffe, Cream and KAREN BY SIMONSEN.
Mr. Preben Mejer from the jury says that the jury agreed to give the prize to the Taiwanese designer: “It was elegant both in regard of the design and technologically. Within the past 20 years of tech wearable (clothes with build in tech), today is the first time we see how beautiful it can be when it all comes together.
The fashion show is cooperation between these three parties: VIA University College, Headstart Fashion and Filmby Aarhus. The fashion show is supported by Aarhus Culture Capital 2017.
