The Taiwan (Republic of China) Representative to Fiji H.E. Joseph Chow on behalf of the Taiwan government handed over FJ$7,000 to the St. Vincent de Paul School for the construction of their new ablution block during the school fundraiser where Representative Chow was invited as Chief Guest on 23rd June 2023.
The school which is located on the remote area of Fiji expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Taiwan for its generous donation in support of the new ablution facilities that is shared by its Primary School and College.
In his remarks, Representative Joseph Chow said that Taiwan and Fiji have a longstanding and close relationship and share like-minded ideas, where both attach importance to education. The schools provide high-quality facilities with excellent education to students and encourage students to study hard, so as to open the door to better future opportunities.
Representative Joseph Chow emphasized that receiving education is the basic right of every child in Fiji and the world, and it is also a powerful tool to equip and empower students to create a bright future.
After the hand-over ceremony, traditional Fijian greetings, singing and dancing were performed to express gratitude to Taiwan with approximately 300 people in attendance of this joyful event. Representative Joseph Chow was later led by Head Teacher Mr. Alekesio Verebasaga, and Dean Ms. Asilika Nacolatabua to the construction site to prospect the area of new ablution block.
The donation of FJ$7,000 demonstrates the goodwill and friendship of the people and government of Taiwan in addition, further strengthens mutual friendship and promotes prosperity between Fiji and Taiwan.
Representative Joseph Chow accompanied by Mr. Alekesio Verebasaga, the head of RCA Natovi Primary School visited and further understood the current progress of building its ablution block.
