Workshops ( Master Classes ) for the art of Peking Opera

GuoGuang Opera Company (國光劇團) founded in 1995 in Taiwan, is a national institution under the supervision of the National Center for Traditional Arts (國立傳統藝術中心), directed by the Ministry of Culture. Since its founding, GuoGuang has been committed to the heritage and aesthetic performance of traditional Chinese opera. Over these decades, based on the art and culture of Peking Opera born in the late 18th century, GuoGuang has created a unique and outstanding opera style with Taiwanese characteristics.
GuoGuang in 2023 will plan to organize a series of lectures & demonstrations, workshops and showcases about the new aesthetics of the classical characters of the Jingju (Peking Opera)
In addition will present a workshop especially for kids 6 – 11 years old, inspired by the basic characters of the well-known story “ The Monkey King”.

Introduction of the new aesthetics of the female characters Jingu, “Dan Roles”
Presenting the techniques of specific characters, postures, art of face painting and showcase
In Peking Opera, "旦" (dàn) refers to a female role that typically portrays young women or middle-aged women. "旦行 dan-Han" refers to the troupe of actors who specialize in playing dan roles. "身段程式化" (shēnduàn chéngshìhuà) refers to the programmed movements or choreography used by dan actors to express the character's personality, emotions, and actions.

"身段程式化" (shēnduàn chéngshìhuà) refers to the programmed movements or choreography used by sheng actors to express the character's personality, emotions, and actions.

Face painting (for adults)
The facial makeup art in Guo Guang Opera originated from human ritual behavior and has matured over thousands of years of Eastern cultural evolution. In addition to the fixed facial makeup patterns, there are also ritualistic movements that have been fully preserved in Taiwan. The "Jumping Judgement" presented on the stage of Guo Guang Opera is an intangible cultural asset that has been passed down for thousands of years in Eastern culture. This workshop will guide participants to experience the facial makeup patterns and appreciate the wonderful performance segments of the "Jumping Judgement" ceremony.

Workshop for kids 6 -11 years old , where θα they will have an unique experience & showcase , based on the main characters of the “Monkey King” story
GuoGuang Journey to the West - "Borrowing the Fan" and Mask Workshop
GuoGuangJourney to the West is a famous Eastern classical novel, and the Monkey king has toured the world in the form of Peking Opera. The Guoguang Opera Company will to present the excerpt "Borrowing the Fan" from Journey to the West in a condensed 20-minute showcase, while also offering a mask teaching workshop, allowing attending parents and children to experience the fantastic world of Journey to the West on stage together.
Cost of participation : 40 € ( including 1 adult companion )
For families with 2 kids plus : 15 € per kid

-The participants they will receive a certificate of participation from the Guo Guang Opera.
- All the make up materials ,will be used are non-toxic, plant materials accompanied with E.U certificates
- The participants must present 30 minutes before the starting time of each workshop for enrollment procedures.
