On August 8th, Taiwan Technical Mission in Indonesia held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of its greenhouse and distribution center in Lembang. The building of the greenhouse and the distribution center is a joint venture of the Mission and National Agricultural Training Center Lembang (LNATC). Deputy Representative of Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO), Ms. Phoebe Yeh, leader of Technical Mission Douglas Moh, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture Indonesia as well as local farmers all attended the ceremony.
The greenhouse and the distribution center is part of the “Strengthening Incubator Agribusiness with Human Resources Development” project between Taiwan and Indonesia. The project aims to elevate the quantity of educational training and the standard of agricultural infrastructure of LNATC. Therefore the types of local agricultural products can be diversified, the quantity of the products can meet export standard. In the end, Indonesian farmers’ benefits and welfare can be increased.
In order to maximize the usage of these facilities, the greenhouse already starts cropping. The distribution center will also cooperate with local distributing companies so that it can start working as soon as possible.
After the facilities are ready, it can benefit around 1,800 people in 3 years. This not only can enhance the agricultural cooperation between Taiwan and Indonesia, but also open up the reputation of Taiwan’s agricultural facilities in Indonesia.
This year also marked the 40th anniversary of Taiwan Technical Mission in Indonesia. Ms. Phoebe Yeh conveys her appreciation towards the Mission as well as the Taiwanese entrepreneurs who have been promoting agricultural and fishing cooperation in Indonesia. For 40 years, they have been working in every corner of Indonesia and brought Taiwan’s advanced agricultural technologies to Indonesia. Their efforts open up a door for Taiwan’s industry to go southward. They are indeed the pioneer of deepening exchange and bilateral relations between Taiwan and Indonesia.
