On December 8th, Representative Tu cheered on the Taiwanese Olympic team at the “2016 Irish Badminton International Open Games” held at the National Sports Center in Blanchardstown, a northwest suburb of Dublin. Representative Tu encouraged the team members to success and an outstanding performance and also presented seasonal fruit and biscuits to the players for encouragement.
After four days of intense competition, the Taiwanese team performed superbly with Ms. Song Shuo-yun taking runner-up in the women's singles, while Mr. Liao Min-jun and Mr. Su Jing-heng claimed runners-up in the men's doubles. All three of these outstanding young players performed excellently.
The "2016 Irish Badminton International Open Games" was held from December 7th to 10th, with players coming from more than 30 countries including the United States, Europe, Asia and elsewhere. The Taiwanese Olympic team was led by two senior trainers, Mr. Li Song-yuan of the Training Institute of the Land Bank of Taiwan, and Mr. Feng Sheng-jie of the APAC International Logistics Co., Ltd. The 13 members of the Badminton Team came from the Training Institute of the Land Bank of Taiwan, the National Sports Training Center, the University of Taipei and the National Taiwan Sports University amongst others. Outside of the player’s performance, their team spirit and friendly attitude were praised by other players and the event proved to be a great success in sports diplomacy.
