On February 4, 2017, Representative and Mrs. Tu visited the Sol Art Gallery in Dublin to view the "Dog’s Notes" sculpture series of renowned Taiwanese artist Mr. Poren Huang. The Sol Art Gallery hosts many exhibitions year round and Representative spoke to Mr. Huang and the Director of the Gallery learning much about the background and concept of Mr. Huang's artistic creation, exchanging views and experiences, and helping to greatly enhance art and culture cooperation between Taiwan and Ireland.
The subjects of the “Dog’s Notes” exhibition are dogs in Taiwan, with an emphasis on the spirit, loyalty and other positive qualities of the dogs. The exhibition has resonated with Irish, European and American artistic circles and has received much media attention. The positive response to the exhibition help to promote Taiwan’s image abroad and the Taipei Representative Office endeavours to promote the exhibition of Taiwanese culture and art in Ireland.
Mr. Huang has been working and lecturing in Taiwan for many years and his works have been exhibited across the globe including in New York and Japan. In Europe, in addition to the exhibition in Ireland, “Dog’s Notes” has also visited the UK, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Germany and has received much praise. Representative Tu, Mr. Huang and Director Martin Davis of the Sol Art Gallery also exchanged views on Taiwanese and Irish art and culture in general. Director Davis praised the art and sculpture of Taiwanese artists, and remarked that he hoped to strengthen cooperation with the Taipei Representative Office in the cultural and artistic fields.
