Taiwan “Investment Media” and Trade Delegation visits Ireland
The delegation of Taiwan’s Investment Media and Trade is visiting Ireland from 28th June to 1st July recently. Led by Chairman Hsieh, the twenty-six members of the delegation are keen to learn more about Ireland’s investment and business environment. It was warmly welcomed by “Enterprise Ireland(EI)” and the “Irish Development Authority (IDA)” respectively.
Representative Simon S.K. Tu addressed the delegation during visting, Enterprise Ireland, and the IDA, and emphasised his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Taiwan and Ireland. Ireland is currently Taiwan's 12th largest trading partner in the EU (up from 17th) with a total two-way trade volume of €750 million. He remarked of the investment potential of Ireland for Taiwanese businesses particularly in software and electronics. Furthermore, there is a large demand in Taiwan for Irish agricultural products, milk power, biotechnology and whiskey. Representative Tu expressed his hope that the delegation’s visit proves fruitful and helps promote closer bilateral trade relations between Taiwan and Ireland.
Enterprise Ireland’s Director of Start-up Business and the IDA’s Head of Growth Markets gave further detail of Ireland’s business environment, investment potential and advantages. Ireland’s strong economic growth, they said, has been driven by a number of factors including its young working population, free higher education, highly skilled workforce, and its low corporation tax which has attracted many large multinational corporations such as Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter and IBM.
Chairman Hsieh and the delegation positively received the information about Ireland’s investment potential and thanked Enterprise Ireland and the IDA for their kind assistance. As one of the leading media organisations in Taiwan, Investment Media publishes a lot influential financial magazines and read by many officials and business people. It is hoped that their visit will encourage more Taiwanese entrepreneurs to invest and pursue closer bilateral economic cooperation with Ireland.
