On 21st July 2017, Representative Simon S.K. Tu was invited to attend the graduation ceremony of students from “Deguang Catholic High School Taiwan” at Holy Child Summer School in Co. Dublin. Representative Tu spoke to the students and encouraged them to continue their study of English and to learn more about Ireland’s culture and history. He also presented the students with their Award Certificates. Mr. Andrew Basquille; Principal of Holy Child Summer School, teachers, staff and students from France, Spain, Italy and Russia warmly welcomed Representative Tu to the school.
Students from Deguang Catholic High School visit Ireland every summer to study English and to learn more about Ireland’s history and culture. The exchange always proves to be very popular with the students and serves as a wonderful occasion for cultural exchange between Ireland and Taiwan. Representative Tu congratulated the students on their hard work and achievements and also expressed his hope that they would continue their studies which will help in their future careers.
During their time in Ireland, the students immersed themselves in Irish life to gain real world experience of speaking English and to understand Ireland’s culture, art, music and food. After the ceremony, Representative Tu and Mr. Basquille posed for photos with the students and teachers and wished them all a safe journey home and every success in their future academic endeavours.
