On Saturday 22nd July 2017, Representative Simon S.K. Tu invited the leaders of the Taiwanese community in Ireland; including teachers, students and volunteers, to a dinner to thank them for their contribution to the 2017 “Mandarin Chinese Character Festival”, held at Greystones Educate Together National School on 8th July. The culture event proved to be a great success with approximately 200 people including many primary and secondary school principals, teachers, students, parents and media in attendance.
Representative Tu expressed his gratitude to the Taiwanese community for their help in making the Festival such a success. He emphasised the wide diversity of events that the community has assisted in so far this year including the 2017 Holiday World Show Dublin, Taiwan Film Festival, 2017 Taiwanese Culinary Demonstration, and many others. In addition, Mr. Frank Lu; Chairman of the Taiwan-Ireland Association was invited by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) to attend the “Fifth World Overseas Community Conference” in Kaohsiung as a delegate of the community in Ireland. Representative Tu praised the hard work of the community in promoting Taiwan and encouraged them to continue their close cooperation with the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland to help develop closer bilateral relations between Ireland and Taiwan.
