The delegation from Taiwan’s "Honor Society of Nursing” led by Prof. Jen-Jiun Liaw (Dean of the School of Nursing, National Defense Medical Center) attended the “28th STTI International Nursing Research Congress” in Dublin from 27th-31st July 2017. The delegation presented a number of research papers at the conference which proved to be a great success for Chang Gung University’s Department of Nursing Professor Yea-Ing L. Shyu who won the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame Honourees Award for 2017. The Taiwanese delegation was the largest delegation present at the event highlighting Taiwan’s commitment to international health care standards.
The delegates attended a welcome dinner on the 27th July with invited special guest Ms. Annette Kennedy; President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN). Representative Simon S.K. Tu remarked that the Taiwanese delegation was the largest of all the participating delegations at the conference which highlighted the importance of Taiwan’s contribution to international non-governmental organisations. He also expressed his hope that the conference may one day be held in Taiwan and underlined the importance of academic exchanges to showcase Taiwan’s world class nursing institutions. Ms. Kennedy has been invited by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to visit Taiwan in October of this year; her visit will no doubt strengthen bilateral cooperation between Taiwan and Ireland and the broader international nursing community.
Ms. Kennedy herself welcomed the delegation to the conference and praised Taiwan’s high standards of nursing and health care and expressed her hope for greater international cooperation and exchange in the field of nursing.
