“The 2017 Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) “World Congress took place in Dublin from the 16th to the 20th September and was attended by a delegation of experts from Taiwan’s top research institutes and universities. The Opening Ceremony on 17th September also featured a specially recorded video message from Vice President Chen Chien-jen. In the message, Vice President Chen expressed Taiwan's strong commitment to fighting cancer and support of international medical cooperation. He also offered his best wishes for the success of the Conference.
The previous night had seen” The 2017 HUPO Global Leadership Gala Dinner” event take place. The Gala Evening drew together researchers from across the world including over 150 international medical scholars, members of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and former US Vice President Joe Biden as keynote speaker.
Representative Simon S.K. Tu meanwhile has been invited as a guest of the dinner and met with the Taiwanese delegation on 20th September to exchange views and discuss the event. He spoke of the strong cooperation in the field of medicine and biotechnology between Ireland and Taiwan. Representative Tu congratulated the delegation on a successful event and expressed his hope that they would serve as an example for stronger bilateral cooperation between Ireland and Taiwan.
