On 7th November 2017, Representative Simon S.K. Tu was invited to attend the launch of “The Kilderry Files”, a new book from Mr. Maurice Manning; Chancellor of the National University of Ireland (NUI). The launch was held in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and was attended by Irish people from all walks of life, including dignitaries from politics, economics, media and academia, and former Taoiseach Mr. Enda Kenny T.D. who introduced the book on the night. Representative and Mrs. Tu have been strong friends of Mr. Manning and were delighted to attend the launch. Mr. Manning thanked all those present for their attendance and expressed his sincere thanks to his family, friends and book publishers who supported him throughout the writing process.
Mr. Manning is a well-known academic, historian and writer who was previously a member of the Oireachtas for twenty-one years. He has been Chancellor of the National University of Ireland since 2009 alongside his role as President of the Irish Human Rights Commission, which he has held since 2002. “The Kilderry Files” is a thriller set in the Ireland of the 1930s and 1940s. Focusing on the intrigues between Church and State in the era, the book is a must-read for any fans of Irish literature, religion and history.
