The Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia held the annual dinner party for members of Taiwan-Baltic States Alumni Association in Riga on December 2nd, 2016. More than 15 members from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia were presented and seized the opportunity to exchange views and experiences of their career. They also touched upon on the formation of friendship association aimed at promoting the understandings between Taiwan and the three Baltic states.
Representative Wu welcomed attending members, especially those from Lithuanian and Estonia, and briefed the latest development of relations between Taiwan and the Baltic States in 2016, emphasizing the continuous goal of promoting bilateral economic partnership, particularly on importing Baltic agriculture products to Taiwan. As members of the Association all have experience in attending seminars and courses in Taiwan, Representative Wu encouraged participants to play the role of cultural ambassadors between Taiwan and the three Baltic States.
Members of the Taiwan-Baltic States Alumni who attended the party exchanged opinions on how to further increase friendship among members and on the feasibility for the formation and function of a non-governmental organization dedicated to familiarize the people of Baltic region with Taiwan through activities such as Taiwan film festivals.
