In recognition of the Lithuanian children who participated in the"47th World School Children's Art Exhibition, "an award-giving ceremony was sponsored by Taipei Mission on December 7, 2016 at the Congressional Auditorium of the “Republic of Užupis” Cultural Neighborhood in Vilnius, Lithuania. More than 100 participants were present, including members of the Lithuanian Parliament, the “President” and “Foreign Minister” of “Republic of Užupis”, Lithuanian Government officials, dignitaries in the field of culture and arts, teachers, parents and students.
Representative Wu of the Taipei Mission praised Lithuanian children, who have been very active in the World School Children's Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Taiwanese Association for Education Through Art for the last 47 years. With no exception, there are 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze awards and 20 selected diplomas attributed to Lithuanian children this year. He encouraged Lithuanian children to keep being creative and imaginative, and assured the audience that the Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia will continue to promote the Exhibition so as to further enhance bilateral cultural ties between Taiwan and Lithuania.
Lithuanian dignitaries also expressed appreciation for the continued support from Taiwan on promoting the Exhibition, which facilitates international cultural exchanges. They pointed out that Lithuania and Taiwan are both democratic countries with mature and robust civil societies, and there are ample room for further exchanges.
Selected pictures of award-winning paintings were displayed and Taiwanese folk songs were also played at the ceremony, making a warm and joyful afternoon for all participants in the cold winter.
