Taiwan Pride, the biggest LGBT event in Asia, will be held on Saturday October the 28th. This annual festival is marked by tens of thousands of people parading through the city, plus numerous after-parties and special events.
Twelve foreign representative offices (de facto embassies) in Taiwan confirmed that they will participate in the 2017 Taiwan Pride Parade in Taipei City to help raise awareness of LGBTI rights. In a joint press release, the representative offices of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the European Union said they will join the event to "celebrate respect, diversity and most of all, Taiwan's open society."
Taiwan's Constitutional Court ruled in May that the section of the Civil Code that does not allow same-sex marriage is unconstitutional and it asked the Legislature to amend the relevant laws within two years to ensure the rights of gay couples.
