Ambassador delivered a speech
Dr. Tseng Shu-hsien, Director of the National Central Library of the Republic of China and Mr. Leo Lin, officer of international exchange, visited Riga from 8-9 November 2013. The Head of Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia, Ambassador Gary Ko, and Madame Ko accompanied them and joined the signing ceremonies of Cooperation Memorandum of the establishment of Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies with Dr. Andris Vilks, Director of the National Library of Latvia. Ambassador Ko metioned that the Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies will palyed a very important role on cultural exchange between Taiwan and Latvia. It will covers collecting materials related to Chinese studies; providing research and reference services; reporting on academic activities; publishing books; promoting research projects; publishing journals; providing assistance to foreign scholars; and sponsoring academic activities. They also visited the construction site of the new national library of Latvia. This building will be open to public in 2014, part of this building will be the presidential headquarters of European Union at the first half of 2015.
