For over twenty years since Taiwan and Nigeria established formal economic ties, the former has liberally invited Nigerian officials, in and out of government circles, to attend capacity building courses and workshops in Taiwan, enabling these officials to benefit from the vast experience and expertise that created the famed “Taiwan Miracle”.
Nigerian scholars and students have also been awarded scholarships to study in top Taiwanese high institutions. One of the organizations that played a major role in training and assisting Nigeria upgrade her human capital in strategic areas such as health care, environment, agriculture, rural development, planning etc, is Taiwan’s International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF).
In the April –May 2016 edition of the informative newsletter SPOTLIGHT, published by The Trade Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we highlight the methods, achievements and vision of Taiwan ICDF in its partnership with allies and friendly countries, including Nigeria.
