To further promote two-way tourism between Taiwan and the Philippines, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, in partnership with the local travel operators and Eva Air, is organizing a “Special Time to Visit Taiwan” promotional package tour.
“The Special Time to Visit Taiwan” is a 4 days and 3 nights special-offered trip to Taiwan, from November 4-7, 2016, which includes the attendance to the “Asia-Pacific Cultural Day” and tour of Taiwan’s famous historical and tourist attractions. The Special promotional package which is now being offered by partner travel operators also includes economy class round-trip airfare via EVA Air, hotel accommodation, inland transportation and full board meals. TECO will also waive the visa fees to all the registered participants. Participants will also have a chance to represent the Philippines in the “2016 Asia-Pacific Cultural Day” Opening Ceremony on November 5th together with representatives from the Department of Tourism and 2015 Ms. World- Philippines Hillarie Danielle Parungao.
As the Republic of China (Taiwan) government under President Tsai Ing-wen, has launched the “New Southbound Policy”, it aims to increase more partnerships and cooperation with Taiwan’s southern neighboring countries. The Philippines, which is the closest country of Taiwan in the South and with a lot of similar history and shared commonalities, is definitely on the top of the list.
Dr. Gary Song-Huann Lin, Representative of Taiwan (ROC) to the Philippines, believes that this will be a good opportunity for Filipinos to have a better understanding of Taiwan, and will encourage more frequent visits. Representative Lin also highlighted the efforts of both Taiwan and the Philippines to facilitate two-way tourism, including increasing of more direct and chartered flights to Taiwan and vice-versa and also relaxing the visa requirements for Filipino travelers. Taiwan, is the Philippine’s 6th top visitor source with more than 111, 184 listed visitors from January to June this year.
