We are pleased to invite applications for the Taiwan Fellowship, Taiwan’s most prestigious class of scholarship for scholars and experts worldwide to conduct research in Taiwan’s universities or research institutions. Open to applicants from over 60 countries, a total of 90 fellowships will be awarded for the upcoming Fellowship program. Application for the Fellowship is now extended to 31 July 2016. Recipients will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2017.
About the Fellowship
Established in 1999 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Fellowship programme offers awards for foreign experts and scholars to conduct advanced research at universities, colleges or research institutions in Taiwan in research areas of interest to Taiwan, in particular, regional free trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), or in areas related to Taiwan, including cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Chinese studies. To cater to the interests of researchers from the region, four new research areas, namely, industrial development, market investment, economic and trade promotion, and international education cooperation are open for application.
Financial Support
- Monthly grants are paid at the beginning of every month.
- Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT$60,000.
- Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT$50,000.
- One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan (The subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant regulations).
- Accident insurance (plus a medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.
- The term of fellowship is for periods of 3 months up to a maximum of 12 months, beginning earliest on 1 January 2017 and ending by 31 December 2017.
Eligibility
Application is open to foreign nationals who are professors, associate professors, assistant professors, doctoral candidates, doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities, or research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
