On 1 July 2016, Representative and Mrs. Ta-Tung J. Chang attended the 11th anniversary dinner celebrations organized by the R.O.C. Veterans Association (ROCVA) in Singapore. Other guests at the dinner included advisers and commissioners from the Overseas Community Affairs Committee and the Hakka Affairs Advisory Committee, Mr. He Yongdao, a 96-year-old former Flying Tiger pilot, and other officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore
In his address, Representative Chang highlighted that ROCVA in Singapore was founded in 2005. Each meeting at the association is a reunion of sorts for overseas veterans with rich operational and life experiences in defending the homeland. For the veterans, the shared past in defending the homeland is one of their most precious and unforgettable memory. Representative Chang also emphasized the important role the ROCVA in Singapore plays in supporting the government and country as well as in fostering commitment to defense.
Mr. Chen Cheng-min, Director of the R.O.C. Veterans Association in Singapore, stated that as an institutionalized platform for veterans to meet at least three times in a year, the association allows veterans who feel nostalgic for Taiwan to connect, bond and exchange life experiences with one another. He looked forward to new members joining the association, and pledged the continuing support of the association to the Republic of China.
After the customary introduction of the new members of the association, the office bearers of the Overseas Community Affairs Committee and officials of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore heartily led everyone in the singing of army songs.
