Deputy Representative James C. L. Huang attended the opening ceremony of the ROC 105th Double Tenth Woodball Invitation Championship on 18 September and the subsequent prize award dinner on 19 September 2016. Over 50 persons attended the dinner which also saw the attendance of advisers and commissioners from the Overseas Community Affairs Committee, office bearers from the Taipei Business Association in Singapore and the Alumni of Taiwan Universities & Colleges, and officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore. Colonel Jang Guan-Jiun from the Taipei Representative Office led a team to compete at the championship.
In his address, Deputy Representative Huang extolled the virtues of woodball. The weekly competitions scheduled by the Woodball Association allow one to keep fit and at the same time, connect with and make new friends. In its fifth year, the Woodball Championship is a labor of love by the Taiwanese community in Singapore. Besides celebrating Taiwan’s birthday, the Woodball Championship also serves as a platform for Taiwanese and Singaporean players to get to know each other through sports.
At the prize award dinner, Deputy Representative Huang presented a total of twelve trophies and 46 medals to the winners of this year’s Woodball Championship.
