Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, accompanied by officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, paid a visit to the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, Singapore on 3 March 2017.
Representative Liang was welcomed by Mr. Liu Rui-Shih, Chief Executive Officer of the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, Singapore. He made a tour of the Foundation’s premises and was briefed on its humanitarian, educational, health and recycling programs. Representative Liang commended Tzu Chi on its admirable mission of purifying hearts and minds, and its good work in Singapore and various parts of the world. Its spirit of self-sufficiency as embodied in its philosophy of “no work, no meal” is especially impactful. Representative Liang also expressed his appreciation to the Foundation for providing prompt, timely and professional assistance to Taiwanese in distress while in Singapore, and hopes that the Foundation and the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore will continue to work hand in hand to accomplish shared goals.
The Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, Singapore has about 100 staff members and is supported in its work by close to 6,000 volunteers. Besides providing assistance to the needy, Tzu Chi volunteers also extend their care to the public by providing medical care services and promoting awareness on recycling. In addition, its Tzu Chi Great Love PreSchool, established in 2014, has won the praise of the Singapore government and public for the effective engagement of its various stakeholders and its emphasis on character development and the learning of life skills.
