Taiwan doles out three projects to Swazi Government
THE Republic of China on Taiwan has donated approximately E40 million to government for the undertaking of some projects.
The E40 million will be directed towards the implementation of four projects and undertakings.
1) Procurement of Computers and Printers for the Newly Constructed Laboratories in Rural Schools – Phase 1 (first payment). Both the projects of constructing computer laboratories and procuring computers and printers for rural schools will benefit many students and teachers in rural areas by not only improving their access to computers and ICT knowledge, but also upgrading the teaching and learning methods. As a result, these projects will definitely narrow the social gap between rural and urban communities, ensuring people in rural areas easy access to information technology, thus fulfilling His Majesty’s hope to empower people with knowledge and help move Swaziland a step further towards the Kingdom of “e-Swatini”.
2) 2016-2017 Rural Electrification (first payment). It is an ongoing project that dated back in 2001. Thanks to our joint efforts, Swaziland national electricity access rate has reached 70% in the budget year 2015/2016. The current project will see the connection of electricity to 26 more rural communities in the four regions of the country.
3) Support to 2016 SADC (Southern African Development Community) Summit
The three projects sponsored by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) included the provision of computers and printers to 10 rural schools computer laboratories.
