On 2nd March 2017, Ambassador Thomas J.C. Chen, on behalf of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented checks worth US$ 3.29 million for 7 development projects to Swazi government, on behalf of which HRH Prince Hlangusemphi, Minister of Economic Planning and Development accepted them at the Embassy in the presence of Hon. Phiwayinkhosi Mabuza, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, and three principal secretaries. This donation would finance the following 7 development projects: (1)the Rehabilitation of Mbabane Government Hospital Outpatient Department Project, (2)the Procurement of Three Bush Tenders/Water Tankers for the Swaziland National Fire and Emergency Services Project (Phase 2), (3)the Networking of Tinkhuimdla Centres Project ,(4) the Automation of Border Services and Operationalization of Mobile Service Unit Project ,(5) the Implementation of the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) Project, (6) the Outreach Programme for the Cooperative Development Education Centre (CODEC), and (7) the Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Gcina Barracks Youth Training Centre Project. In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Chen mentioned that the Republic of China (Taiwan), being a loyal development partner of Swaziland, was proud to play a constructive role in contributing to Swazi development projects and share the pride of our Swazi brothers and sisters. HRH Prince Hlangusemphi, on behalf of the government of Swaziland, extended his gratitude to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for its continuous support for his country to fulfill Vision 2022 and, once again, appreciated Taiwan’s substantial contribution towards Swaziland’s success in hosting the SADC summit last year.
