Swazi Observer Reports ‘Swaziland implores WHA to reconsider stance on Taiwan’

On 26th May, Swazi Observer carried an article entitled ‘Swaziland implores WHA to reconsider stance on Taiwan’, in which an address made by Hon. Minister of Health Sibongile Ndlela-Simelane at the 70th WHA on the morning of 24th May was pretty much quoted.
According to the minister, “We would like to appreciate the continuous support from the government of China on Taiwan to countries that are faced with health challenges and are struggling to fulfill the WHO’s vision.” Further, she pointed out, “ The Republic of China on Taiwan’s absence at this 70th Assembly is highly regrettable and will inevitable affect our collective endeavor to control and eradicate outbreaks of infectious disease.” In her conclusion, the minister urges “the WHO to reconsider the current positon on the participation of the Republic of China on Taiwan in the WHA.”
