Taiwan donates wheelchairs, walking sticks and canes to Swaziland

The donation ceremony was held at Deputy Prime Minister’s office on 25 October 2017.
Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini received 210 wheelchairs, 100 wooden canes, 100 foldable canes and 100 four-section folding sticks from Ambassador Thomas Chen who made the donation on behalf of on Taiwan Pu-Hsein Education Foundation.
DPM Dlamini, on making his remarks, thanked the government and people of Taiwan, R.O.C. for the donation. He said “This equipment that we have received today allows disabled people to go about their daily lives without depending on others. Assistance devices play a pivotal role in the reintegration of people with disabilities into society. The office believes that such devices create an enabling environment and ensures that people living with disabilities lead meaningful lives and effectively contribute to the social and economic development of the country.”
Handing over the wheelchairs, Ambassador Chen said: “Statistics show that most vulnerable people from rural areas and poverty stricken families are unable to afford daily necessities. In an effort to express its continued love, care and spirits of compassion towards the disabled and vulnerable Swazis, the Pu-Hsein Education Foundation thus wishes to donate wheelchairs and walking canes and sticks to them.”
