The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Jeffrey Mountevans, led a business delegation to Taiwan on 11th- 12th July to promote collaboration between the United Kingdom and Taiwan. The delegation was com-prised of representatives from the financial, legal, real estate and construction sectors, eager to discuss opportunities with their Taiwanese counterparts.
The Lord Mayor, who acts as the ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services met with a number of senior figures in Taiwan’s government as well as investment authorities, regulators and business leaders to discuss co-operation be-tween financial services in both countries.
Upon meeting President Tsai Ing-wen, the Lord Mayor reiterated his intention to build on the strong existing partnership between the UK and Taiwan, while also stressing that the UK will remain an attractive commercial partner with a prosperous business environment after the country has left the European Un-ion.
President Tsai, who had recently met with the Lord Mayor in Panama City, also expressed hope that Taiwan and the UK can further deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges in the areas of investment, finance, and trade to create more business opportunities.
