Together with 45 representatives from 19 donor countries visiting the EBRD’s London HQ, Representative David Lin attended the Grant Planning Meeting on 24 November, one of the EBRD’s key annual events. The meeting is held to assess the Bank’s funding needs for 2017, as well as its reformed strategy and implementation plan.
During the meeting, Representative Lin reiterated the significance of Taiwan’s 25-year partnership milestone with the EBRD, during which Taiwan has become the Bank’s fourth largest donor. Pledging to continue Taiwan’s support for the Bank’s transitional mandate in its countries of operation, the representative said Taiwan will continue working with the bank to improve people’s lives in the EBRD’s regions.
On the same day, Representative Lin hosted a dinner to recognise and celebrate the efforts of the EBRD’s management and shareholders, who contributed to the Bank’s successful operations in 2016. The EBRD’s new Vice President for Policy and Partnership, Mr Pierre Heilbronn, attended the dinner, where he recognised Taiwan’s donor partnership and praised the country for its 25 years of reliable contributions. Also in attendance were the EBRD’s Board Directors for Japan, France, Finland, Australia and Germany.
Taiwanese donor support has contributed to the EBRD’s work since 1991 and is especially directed towards information technology, the knowledge economy, business advice for SMEs, sustainable resource management, intelligent transport systems and women in business.
Taiwan also shares technical expertise and developmental experience with the EBRD’s countries of operation, with Taiwanese experts being retained by the bank to engage in a wide range of projects.
