A delegation from the National Policy Foundation (NPF), a Taiwan-based think tank affiliated with the Kuomintang (KMT), visited the UK from 13-15 November, to discuss the political climate in the UK and Taiwan.
The delegation was led by Mr Lih-Chyun Sun, the CEO of NPF and former spokesperson of the Executive Yuan. The other delegates were Mr Chu-Chai Lin, former Minister of the National Development Council, and Mr Hsiung-Wen Chen, former Minister of Labour.
The delegation called upon the Conservative Campaign Headquarters, during which they met with officials to discuss UK-Taiwan ties, Theresa May’s policy on mainland China, and the challenges and opportunities presented by Brexit.
The group also called on the co-chair of the British-Taiwanese APPG, Nigel Evans, as well as members of the Brexit Committee and the Defence Committee, before being invited to the School of Oriental and African Studies, in which Mr Chu-Chia Lin delivered a speech on economic relations across the Taiwan Strait. The trio then attended a Q&A session with a focus on the future of the KMT and the party’s approach to Cross-Strait relations.
