Three Taiwanese science and technology delegations visited the UK from 1-8 November in pursuit of research and development collaboration.
The first delegation from the Energy Technology Transfer and International Division of the Taiwan National Energy Programme was led by Professor Yong-Chie Heng. The group visited Hexicon, a London based Engineering house developing floating multi-turbine platforms, while also meeting with the University of Southampton’s Energy Technology Group, headed by Professor Andrew Cruden.
Professor Jwu-Sheng Hu led the second delegation, which was comprised of advanced manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, and robotics experts from the Industrial Technology Research Institute. Amongst the sites visited were Imperial College London, the University of Sheffield and a number of engineering firms including the Shadow Robot Company and RDM Group. The delegation also called upon Transport Systems Catapult, the UK's technology and innovation centre for Intelligent Mobility and attended the INNOVATE 2016 expo in Manchester.
The third delegation was sent from Taiwan’s National Nano Device Laboratories (NDL), led by the Director-General Professor Wen-Kuan Yeh. The team visited the Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride and the Cambridge Graphene Centre; both located within the University of Cambridge.
Staff from the TRO’s Science and Technology Division accompanied the three delegations on a number of the visits, while also providing an introduction and comprehensive overview of the existing sci-tech collaboration schemes between Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
