On 9 April, Representative Lin and Terry Lee, Director of the TRO’s Economic Affairs Division, visited Peter Kent at his Suffolk residence in recognition of his lasting contribution to Taiwan-UK relations.
Mr Kent is the former Chairman of the Taiwan Advisers Group and the former Deputy Chairman of the Taiwan-Britain Business Council. In the 1970s, when Taiwan and the UK had no official relations, he acted as an envoy to Taiwan and devoted much of his time to encouraging business exchanges between both countries. Mr Kent has now visited the island over 100 times and spent much of his career promoting business awareness in Taiwan. In 1997 he founded the Taiwan Britain Business Council and served on the board of the Taiwan Trade Centre (TAITRA), London, for around 20 years.
During the meeting, Representative Lin expressed his gratitude for Mr Kent’s substantial contribution to Taiwan-UK ties and discussed the latest bilateral developments. Mr Kent provided Representative Lin and Mr Lee with a tour of his historical house built in 1530 during the visit.
