On 7 June, Representative Lin welcomed Edward Adams, the Apostolic Nuncio to the UK, to his new London post, exchanging views on issues ranging from human trafficking and modern day slavery, to humanitarian assistance.
In the meeting at the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See in Wimbledon, the nuncio praised Taiwan’s efforts to collaborate with the international community on anti-trafficking and international aid for those in need. He also discussed with Representative Lin the upcoming 24th Congress of Apostleship of the Sea, an annual Catholic forum concerning the prevention of human trafficking that will be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in October.
Representative Lin affirmed Taiwan is deeply committed to combating human trafficking, citing its collaboration with the Holy See and the United States in providing worldwide humanitarian assistance. The Representative highlighted Taiwan’s efforts in cooperating with neighbouring Asia-Pacific countries to tackle cross-border crime, and said Taiwan would be grateful for the Holy See’s support for its participation in the Santa Marta Group, a Catholic organisation that seeks to eliminate human trafficking.
