From 19-24 June, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) co-hosted a series of events which included an investment forum and two technical visits in Taipei. The events were held to promote business opportunities between Taiwan and the EBRD’s Countries of Operations.
The investment forum titled ‘EBRD Investment Forum – We Invest in Changing Lives’ was held in Taipei on 20 June. Launching the forum, Pierre Heilbronn, the EBRD Vice President of Policy and Partnerships, delivered a speech expressing his gratitude for Taiwan’s contributions to the EBRD’s activities and affirming that there is much the EBRD’s Countries of Operations can learn from the Taiwanese model of economic development.
The forum featured a series of presentations on the EBRD’s projects in Turkey, Poland, Jordan, and Kazakhstan, made by EBRD Managing Director Jean-Patrick Marquet, Regional Director Grzegorz Zieliński, and Business Development Director Philip ter Woort. Richard Wu, Vice President of the Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Company (FETC), delivered a speech to share FETC’s experience of operating in the EBRD’s Countries of Operations.
Alongside the investment forum, two EBRD technical visits were held, with the first exploring smart city technologies & sustainable development, and the second focusing on the food processing business. Both provided delegates from EBRD’s regions with an insight into Taiwan’s approach to the respective fields.
