Partially sponsored by Taiwan’s Taishin International Bank, the UK’s internationally acclaimed Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at the Taipei National Concert Hall, Taiwan, from 25-26 September 2017. The performances form part of the Orchestra’s East Asian tour and will be directed by the renowned conductor Maestro John Nelson while also featuring Canadian violinist Yi-Jia Susanne Hou.
To celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Orchestra will present the two concerts in completely different styles, representing the East and the West respectively. In the first concert, the Orchestra will perform oriental violin concertos such as Butterfly Lovers Concerto and Dvořák Symphony No.9, 'New World'. For the second and final concert in Taiwan, the programme includes Brahms Violin Concerto and Beethoven Symphony No.3, 'Eroica'.
