On 7 September, Taiwanese food specialists Han Dian held a reception to mark their entry into the UK marketplace as the first UK-based food processing company from Taiwan.
Held at London’s Southbank Centre in association with Han Dian’s distribution partner Taipec, the reception was attended by TRO Deputy Representative Shyang-Yun Cheng, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment Greg Hands, UK Trade Envoy to Taiwan the Lord Faulkner of Worcester, General Manager of Han Dian Mr Chi Ming Chung and Chairman of Taipec Sherman Lai. The event showcased a range of Han Dian’s authentic Taiwanese foods which will be sold by UK retailers.
In remarks, Mr Hands noted that British enthusiasm for foreign cuisine provides a good customer base for Han Dian, adding that the company will create around 100 jobs in the UK and join 190 other Taiwanese companies in the country. Lord Faulkner also praised the company and stated he was impressed by the high quality of its products during a visit to one of its factories in Yunlin County, Taiwan. Mr Chung said through the company’s London base, it aims to introduce Taiwanese foods to countries across Europe.
Established in 1997, Han Dian produces and supplies a wide range of authentic Taiwanese food to restaurants and supermarkets. Taipec was established in 2009, specialising in the sales and distribution of Taiwanese food products. It supplies Han Dian’s services to the UK and Europe.
