On 29 August, Representative Lin visited the City of Bath to promote exchanges in smart cities, urban development and tourism.
Accompanied by TRO staff, the representative met with the Lord Mayor of Bath Ian Gilchrist, as well as councillors Mr Andrew Furse and Mr Mark Shelford to discuss cooperation opportunities. Representative Lin stressed the extensive benefits of smart city cooperation and encouraged city authorities to consolidate links with Taiwan in the field.
Representative Lin noted that cooperation projects with local authorities in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Birmingham and Peterborough are already underway, citing their participation in the first ever Taiwan-UK Smart City Forum held in Taipei in February 2017. In return, Lord Mayor Ian Gilchrist expressed his interest in promoting smart city development in the two countries and said he looked forward to harnessing the opportunities present.
