On 30 September, ‘Passport to Taiwan’, a festival of Taiwanese culture, returned to Manchester for a second consecutive year.
Organised by the Manchester Taiwanese Association, the festival was centred around the theme of ‘belief’, focusing on local creeds in Taiwanese communities. The event featured live music, Taiwanese opera, dancing shows, puppetry, photography & ceramic exhibitions, folk games, Taiwanese food and a replica of the famous Maiokow Market in Keelung.
Representative Lin delivered a speech to officially open the event, in which he welcomed the festivalgoers, encouraging them to explore the great diversity of Taiwanese culture. Citing the wide range of UK-Taiwan ties, the Representative said the event was a testament to the strength of the cultural relations between both countries and one which he hoped would be held for many years to come.
