On 20 September, the TRO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) co-hosted an eclectic erhu concert at the EBRD’s London headquarters.
Featuring the renowned Taiwanese erhuist Kenny Wen and his band, the event attracted over 230 attendees including EBRD Vice-President Betsy Nelson and the Chair of the EBRD Asian Network Nari Been.
In remarks, Representative Lin said it was a great pleasure to co-host the event at the EBRD, as Taiwan has been a long-standing partner and a large contributor to the EBRD since the Bank’s inception in 1991. The Representative also paid tribute to Kenny Wen, who he had known for over thirty years, and praised his contribution to erhu music.
Mr Wen and his band performed six songs at the concert, including a medley of classic love songs from 1990s Taiwan, a medley of Jay Chou’s songs and classic western love songs from the 1980s. All songs were performed according to Mr Wen’s own interpretation through the classic two-stringed Chinese violin.
