In September and October, Representative Lin led TRO delegations to the autumn conferences of the Conservative Party in Manchester, the Labour Party in Brighton and the Liberal Democrats in Bournemouth, where he promoted Taiwan-UK bilateral ties.
The Representative met with senior figures within each party as well as members of the diplomatic corps. Views were exchanged on further opportunities for UK-Taiwan collaboration in renewable energy, smart cities and artificial intelligence, as well as the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, gender equality and the global promotion of democracy.
Representative Lin also briefed parliamentarians on Taiwan’s role in promoting international development, strengthening relations with South and South East Asia through the New Southbound Policy, international aid and promoting gender equality.
