Taiwanese Film Zinnia Flower to premiere at Filmfest DC

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the United States will join Filmfest DC in presenting Zinnia Flower. The screenings will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 23, at 4:45 p.m. at the Landmark E Street Cinema (address: 555 11th St. NW, Washington DC 20004).
Zinnia Flower is a 2015 Taiwanese film directed by Tom Shu-yu Lin, who won the Golden Horse Award for best original screenplay in 2008. Drawing on Lin’s personal experience in losing his wife, the film was also inspired by the Buddhist practice of 100-day mourning for the deceased. It depicts the leading characters’ 100-day journey to get over the pain from the loss of loved ones. The film’s leading actress won the 2015 Golden Horse Award. Selected as a closing film at the 2015 Taipei Film Festival, Zinnia Flower was also screened at many international film festivals in Amsterdam, Tallinn, Hawaii, San Diego, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Tokyo, Busan, etc..
