Boston Chinese Community Holds Reception in Celebration of Taiwan’s 14th Presidential and Vice-Presidential Inauguration

Chinese groups from all around the greater Boston area gathered on the evening of May 20th to celebrate Taiwan’s 14th presidential and vice-presidential inauguration. The reception was hosted by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England, and the preparatory meeting and arrangements were made by Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) commissioners Ricky Moy and Chiang Tsung-ting. The event was attended by TECO Boston’s Director-General Scott Lai with his wife, as well as Deputy Director-General Bruce Chen. The honored guests for the evening included Massachusetts congressmen Tackey Chan and Donald Wong, and Newton mayor John Rice among other important politicians and Chinese community leaders. The event was a spectacular success, with over 200 guests in attendance.
During the celebratory reception, several political and community leaders took to the stage to offer congratulations to President Tsai on her inauguration, and wish for Taiwan’s long –lasting prosperity. The three hour-event was thoroughly enjoyed by all those in attendance.
